Cleanup Day Recap and Yard Sale Update

Hello Neighbors!

Last Saturday, April 25th, LWNA participated in the Great American Cleanup.  While we were hoping for more than the 13 volunteers that came, we were grateful for them and managed to pick up 30 bags of trash in a few short hours!  If you weren’t able to make it, we’re looking forward to next year’s event and will hopefully see you there!

After the cleanup we enjoyed a picnic lunch provided by LWNA, which gave us a chance to chat and get to better know our neighbors (and neighborhood issues).   Check out the pictures from the event, below.

We also wanted to give you an update on the “yard sale days.”  We originally had posted that we would advertise for neighborhood-wide sales on June 6th, but we have expanded that to June 5th and/or 6th so those of you that want to start on Friday will also be covered by the advertising.  Scroll down to the very next post to see the updated details.

Looking forward!

Neighborhood Yard Sale Days – June 5th/6th!

Hello Neighbors!

Are you thinking about clearing out some of that clutter as you tackle Spring cleaning? Well, we’ve got just the thing! (Speaking of Spring cleaning – a big THANK YOU to those of you who participated in this year’s Great American Cleanup – we’ll be posting photos from the event soon).

This year Ladera West will be starting an annual “Neighborhood Yard Sale Days.”  The idea is that if we all have sales on the same day(s) we can generate much more traffic (and make more $)!  LWNA will be advertising the neighborhood-wide yard sales for Friday and/or Saturday, June 5th/6th.  We’ll post this on the marquee signs, on this website, on www.nextdoor.com, as well as post an ad on Craigslist closer to the date.  You can also help spread the word!

We’re also looking into getting a charity to pick up any unsold items folks may want to donate – if you’d be interested, please post a comment so we’ll know if this would be worthwhile.  Thank you!

Looking forward to seeing you on the 5th/6th!

Neighborhood Cleanup Reminder – This Saturday!

Hello Neighbors! THIS SATURDAY (April 25th) is our Neighborhood Cleanup and Volunteer Lunch!!!  Have you been meaning to do this in the past but weren’t able to? Well, make this the year!  Even if you only have an hour to spare, it will make a difference and is appreciated!  Here’s the schedule:

Anytime between 9:00 – 12:00: pick up your supplies (plastic bags, gloves and beverages) at Riconada Park; you’ll let the LWNA board members know what areas of the neighborhood you’ll be cleaning so that we can send a truck by to collect your bags after the clean-up.

Between 9:00 – 12:00 – clean up the area of the neighborhood you selected and leave the bags at the end of the streets.

12:00 – come back to the park for a picnic lunch provided by LWNA and take some time to socialize with your neighbors, meet the board members and get some handy handouts on the Association, crime prevention and other good neighborhood resources.

While it’s not mandatory to sign-up ahead of time, it will help us get a head-count for supplies (and lunch!). Planning on participating? Sign up here:
